Week 2 Post 3

As an hourglass moves and gravity take the grains of sand from above to below, we are living our lives and experiencing the passing of time. Eventually as you and I approach the end of our lives, our standing waves to perceive and grains of sand run out. The light cone is quite poetic! With all of this in mind some questions and thoughts are conjured: If the position of the observer of time is singular, what peice of ourselves is responsible for the awareness of time? Surely it must not be part of my physical body- maybe we have a dual or "higher" self that is accountable for sentience. Lastly, in the videos I watched, there was reference to ideas such as absolute zero, and movement outside our visible light spectrum. I am unfamiliar with these but look forward to exploring them more.

Week 10 post 2

With 8 billion people on earth and an equal amount of vastly different perspectives of the world, there are equally as many different conclusions on the the essence of reality. But would it be accurate to conclude just one of those many different views is right? Clearly there is an essence of reality, but no one person could provide a perfect explanation of it.  Carrying off of week 6 is the idea of humility in that no one person is better for the reason that they have a better understanding of reality. Week 11 Post 2

 Taoism is an eastern religion that originated in china. It emphasizes living in harmony with the Tao (or "the way) and "advocates for humility and religious piety" (Oxford Languages Definition). The religious book of Taoism is the Tao De Ching written by Lao-Tzu. In it, Lao-Tzu explains how earth is a reflection of heaven, and run by universal heavenly laws- not laws of man. The more man interferes with the natural balance produced by the universal laws, the further away harmony retreats (The Tao of Pooh, Benjamin Hoff). The four principals of Taoism are simplicity, going with the flow, letting go and harmony.  Simplicity is ensuring a rudimentary lifestyle that emphasizes self sustainability and thus a good relationship with your environment.
