week 6 post 3
It is beginning to make sense that religion is just a respective communities search for the meaning of reality. Perhaps the true essence of reality is the god like entity that religions all over the world worship. In order to attain all of the knowledge of reality, you would have to be god. I think sometimes people are too obsessed with getting all of the knowledge and power and develop too strong a desire to be revered as god then eventually forget all about the important things like wisdom.
Also, in the beginning of the history of humans, we had a much more unformed and childlike understanding of the world. As we grow as a human race, we grow in knowledge and understanding.
Wisdom is associated with virtues such as benevolence and ethics, so what good does knowledge do if it is not kind or loving? How can the physical facts of the science of god impact a communities view on their own religion? Gods are often morphed into human archetypes, but could this make people think differently about how they view the supremacy of god?
How has this new learning played a role in your own spiritual identity?
